HistoGeneX in China!

We are delighted to announce that HistoGeneX will start a histopathology biomarker laboratory in China. This update is the first issue of our Chinese journey. We will provide our progress via this communication. Please include us in your global clinical trial planning and send us your questions.

Where will the HistoGeneX lab be in China?

Jining (济宁) is a city of 8.3 million people. Historically, it is the home of the famed Chinese philosopher, Confucius. Jining is located in the Shandong (山东) province, about two hours directly south of Beijing by the highly impressive Chinese high-speed rail.

Why Jining?

Jining is a designated Chinese National-Level High-Tech Industry Development Zone. In the Shandong province, it is one of two such sites and has received the attention of international media for its innovations in various industries, especially for biotechnology. HistoGeneX has received a very strong welcome from the Jining government who are supporting us with our construction project and acquisition of talent and personnel.

We have also formed an important scientific academic collaboration with the Jining Medical University Medical Center and Institute of Precision Medicine. The dean of its medical school, Professor Yang Wan Cai, is a pathologist and will serve as a scientific advisor for HistoGeneX China. Professor Yang also runs a pathology research laboratory at the University of Illinois in Chicago and is a frequent visitor to our laboratory in Naperville, IL. His laboratory will be in the same building as ours, and both parties plan to collaborate on biomarker studies.

What will the HistoGeneX China lab offer?

Our custom design and construction facility is around 30,000 square feet. We will provide all necessary platforms for oncology clinical development. This includes IHC, FISH, molecular assays, on-slide CTC analysis, and digitalpathology.

HistoGeneX China will be located on the 3rd floor of the Jining Life Science Center building.HistoGeneX China will be located on the 3rd floor of the Jining Life Science Center building.

What is the timing?

We plan to make the laboratory available for audits and qualification visits Q1 2020. Starting December 2019, we will begin platform installation and personnel training. Initially, we will begin with IHC and histopathology services followed soon by select genomic services.

Please let us know the biomarker assays and platforms that are important to you as soon as possible so we can include them in our planning.

Will you have pathologists?

Yes. We have hired a Medical Director with a decade of experience supporting histopathology biomarkers for oncology drug development. The laboratory will also have comprehensive digital pathology capability to communicate with both our Antwerp and Naperville pathologists, but we will always have on-site Chinese pathologists.

Will the lab be CLIA and CAP-certified?

Yes. Our Chinese lab will have the same CAP accreditation and CLIA certification as our Belgian and US laboratories.
